Transmission
Complaint:
Slipping, chuter or no reverse gear.
Cause:
We have seen the reverse piston in the
transmission crack.
Correction:
As they appear to be more commonly failing
in recent times, there is aftermarket pistons
available. Good news is they have been upgraded
to last a bit more then the stock type.
Result: Once the updated pistons are
installed, you shouldn’t have any relevant
complaints.
Note: We have come across other causes as to why
reverse gear is failing as well. As the piston
is a common cause we have seen solenoids, valve
body, wiring harness give a similar complaint.
We will need to inspect and diagnose the vehicle
on a job by job basis.

Complaint:
How do I check the transmission oil level on
this thing.
Cause:
I am not sure what they were thinking at the
time
Correction:
To check the oil level, have the car
idling in park and undo the allen key type bolt
located under your transmission.
(don’t worry you wont loose all the oil, inside
the case directly above the allen key bolt is a
long tube and goes as far as the desired correct
oil level)
If the fluid trickles/ spills out then there is
enough fluid in your trans. If drops / or no fluid
comes out then you will need to add some fluid.
To fill / add fluid, this can be achieved from the
tiny fill pipe located directly above your
transmissions pan. ( the pan is located on side of
trans and facing the radiator / front of car) just
pop off the rubber grommet acting as a blocker
over your filler pipe.
Result:
You can now check the level without having to
take it to your nearest repairer.
Note: Use genuine correct fluid on these things.
Not cheap.
